So...

You don't have to read it, I know. It's totally up to you, thank you anyways.

High school is not prison...

I'm a sophomore in high school. It's not as grand and amazing as people and the media make it out to be. Nor is it as dreadful and awful. (Where do people get these wild ideas?) Just the last four years of school with the kids you've known since the day you started saying your ABC's. It's the government telling you to start preparing your long-winded goodbyes because once that diploma is in your hand, you're expected to be something and be great at that something. Doesn't always work out that way, but it happens.

I've been told (and I hear people being told this all the time) that high school is the best four years of your life. Bull shit. What about the years as a mother? Or a father? Or the years spent doing something you love? How are THOSE not the best years of your life? How about the first four years of your life where you were learning as much as possible everyday and didn't have to take care of yourself?

People that say that high school is the best years of your life didn't have a very good life. They either had a horrid childhood or they didn't appreciate it and once they were out of high school, they didn't meet their dreams and figured that's how life is. High school was THEIR best years.

High school may be fun for a while and should help you for the future, but there's no way in Hell that they're the best years. I can't see that happening. Even if I get out of here and become homeless, I may miss high school and living with my parents, but they sure as Hell won't be the best years.

This blog keeps drawing me back to it....
